TEHRAN (FNA)- Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrisov and International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) President Peter Maurer congratulated Mohammad Javad Zarif on his appointment as Irans new foreign minister.
In a message on Monday, the Kazakh foreign minister wished success for Zarif during his career as Irans foreign minister, saying, I voice my readiness for expanding cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Islamic Republic and participating in the talks for finding a peaceful solution to Irans nuclear program and having close cooperation with Your Excellency (in this regard).
Also in a phone conversation today, the ICRC president congratulated the Iranian foreign minister on his appointment to the new post, and said that he is willing to travel to Iran to visit Irans facilities for relief operations.
Zarif, for his part, thanked Maurer and expressed the hope that his visit to Tehran would take place soon.
On August 15, the Iranian parliament gave votes of confidence to Zarif and 14 other proposed ministers of President Hassan Rouhani.
Mohammad Javad Zarif was approved as Irans foreign minister with 232 yes votes, 36 nays and 13 abstentions of the parliament members.
