A Muslim Brotherhood member says the recent military coup in Egypt that ousted President Mohamed Morsi is aimed at bringing back to power the Western-sponsored regime of former dictator Hosni Mubarak,Press TVreports.
I think the idea of this coup is not a simple coup; this has been planned to [get] revenge from the revolution of the January 25, [2011], said Mohamed Ghanem, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood in London, in an interview with Press TV on Wednesday.
He added that the aim of the coup in Egypt is to control the Egyptian people to bring back the old regime as it was to suppress people, to control the wealth, to have monopoly over the Egyptian people, stressing, though, that this is what is not going to happen.
Tension first intensified in Egypt on July 3, when the Egyptian army removed Morsi from office. The army also suspended the constitution and dissolved the parliament.

On Wednesday, scores of people were killed when security forces moved in to clear out thousands of Morsi supporters from two camps - one near the Rabaah al-Adawiya Mosque in Cairo and a smaller one in Nahda Square in Giza.

Ghanem highlighted that the Egyptian people will continue their protests until they get rid of this army and police power and bring back legitimacy and democracy.

He added that the military-backed interim leaders in Egypt want to be in power but since they have no base in the Egyptian street and no support whatsoever, they sought the assistance of Egyptian military that has an ambition to lead the country again.

The analyst further said that what is currently happening in the country is a large-scale conspiracy against the stability of Egypt, and condemned the killing of the Egyptian people by the military.

No army in the world kills their own people. Their duty is to go and fight the enemy, not to kill their own people, the Muslim Brotherhood member stated.
