Iranian MP lauds Hezbollah’s anti-Israel stance

TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian lawmaker reiterated Tehran’s support for anti-Zionist resistance movements in the region, particularly the Lebanese Hezbollah, which he said plays a pivotal role in the anti-Israeli axis.

Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Tuesday that Hezbollah has a brilliant and honorable historical background in anti-Israeli resistance for the Muslim world.

Boroujerdi highlighted Hezbollah’s triumph over Israel in 2000 when the Zionist regime’s troops withdrew from Southern Lebanon.

“Israel, receiving all-out support from the US, waged a new war on Hezbollah in 2006 with the intention to defeat the Lebanese resistance movement and compensate for its 2000 failure. Israelis, however, could not defeat Hezbollah despite their brutal attacks and the 33-day war marked another honor for the Lebanese resistance movement,” he stated.

Early in February 2012, Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei categorically denied Iran’s interference in Bahrain, but meantime stressed Iran’s direct involvement in the Palestinian and Lebanese confrontation against Israel, including the Lebanese Summer 2006 33-day resistance against the Zionist regime.

“Wherever Iran interferes, it announces it in a very straightforward manner. For instance, we interfered in confrontations against Israel, which resulted in the (Lebanese) victory in the 33-day war and (Palestinians’ victory in) the 22-day (Gaza) war,” Ayatollah Khamenei said, addressing millions of Friday Prayers worshippers on Tehran University Campus at the time.

“In future too, we will support and help everyone who opposes the Zionist regime,” the Leader underscored.

“The Zionist regime is a real cancerous tumor that should be cut and will be cut, God Willing,” Ayatollah Khamenei underscored.
