Lifting anti-Iran sanctions, key to settle nuclear dispute

MOSCOW, July 15 (Bernama) -- President of the National and International Security Foundation of Russia Leonid Shershnev said that the lifting of anti-Iran sanctions is the key to resolving Tehran nuclear dispute.
Criticising the insufficiency of western states' sanctions against Iran, the retired major general told Iran's IRNA in a recent exclusive interview that those sanctions had failed to settle any tensions between western states and Iran over its peaceful nuclear activities.

Shershnev, a former head of Russia's military space intelligence, added the sanctions had adverse effects on Iran's nuclear programme.

The West has admitted that its unreasonable policy towards Iran has only added to the speed of Tehran's nuclear activities.

West has to realise that it could never achieve its goals at the international level through such measures, Shershnev stressed.

The Russian analyst further criticised sanctions on export of medicine to Iran.

He said that such moves would only unveil the inhuman nature of the US and its allies.
