Iran presidential candidate Hassan Rohani[/caption]Relations between Iran and Azerbaijan are based on friendship and mutual trust, according to a letter of the newly elected President of Iran Hassan Rouhani sent in response to a congratulatory letter from the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, state-run online news agency IRNA reported on Saturday.
Iran welcomes the development of relations with friendly and neighboring countries, in particular, the development and strengthening of relations between Tehran and Baku, Rouhani said in his letter.
Iran's newly elected head of state has expressed confidence in further development of these relations.
The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev sent a congratulatory letter to the newly elected President of Iran Hassan Rouhani on June 16.
