Iran’s Ambassador to Beirut Ghazanfar Roknabadi says a military approach vis-à-vis the ongoing crisis in Syria will serve Israeli security in the region.
“Adopting a military approach against Syria will help guarantee the security of the Zionist regime [of Israel] in the region,” Roknabadi said in a Friday interview with Al-Manar website.
He added that an overthrow of the Syrian government will help the Tel Aviv regime get out of a quagmire it has already been trapped in.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran insists on a political approach to resolve the crisis in Syria and we believe that an appropriate solution cannot be achieved through the continuation of conflict in Syria,” Roknabadi stated.
Foreign-sponsored militancy has taken its toll on the lives of many people, including large numbers of Syrian soldiers and security personnel, since March 2011.
The West and its regional allies including the Israeli regime, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey are partners in supporting anti-Damascus militants seeking to topple the government of President Bashar al-Assad.
Several international human rights organizations have said that the militants operating in Syria are committing war crimes.
