Bahrainis hold an anti-regime protest in a suburb of Manama, June 15, 2013.[/caption]Irans deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs has dismissed latest remarks by the Bahraini foreign minister concerning Tehrans involvement in the Syrian conflict.
On June 30, Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Khalifa claimed that Iran was sending militants into Syria.
Irans Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian rejected the remarks on Monday, censuring the Bahraini regime for its use of toxic tear gas against the people of Bahrain.
Amir-Abdollahian urged Manama to try and resolve the internal issues of Bahrain rather than level unfounded accusations against Iran.
The Bahraini uprising began in mid-February 2011. Dozens of people have been killed in the regime crackdown, and Bahraini police have arrested hundreds, including doctors and nurses.
Amir-Abdollahian also said a new model of war is now being exercised by US allies against Syria, and enemies of the anti-Israel resistance front have targeted the Syrian nation.
The Iranian official lauded the recent victories of the Syrian army against terrorists and Takfiri extremist groups, and attributed the triumphs to the armys endeavor.
War and arming terrorist groups in Syria will have no outcome. The Islamic Republic of Iran supports the sensible Syrian nation as well as the reforms proposed by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, and opposes any foreign intervention in the internal affairs of Syria, the Iranian official stated.
Syria has been gripped by a deadly unrest since March 2011, and many people, including large numbers of Syrian soldiers, have been killed in the violence.
Several international human rights organizations have said that the militants operating in Syria are committing war crimes.
