Pak, China, Iran, India trade corridor being built

IslamabadNational Highway Authority (NHA) is focusing on availability of National Trade Corridor (NTC) and under this programme national highway, motorways and expressways are being built upto the neighbouring countries China, Iran, Afghanistan, India and also to Gawadar Port.
This was stated by Chairman National Highway Authority Hamid Ali Khan during a meeting with WorldBankMission team headed byFatimaZahra Shah, senior urban specialist that called on him at NHA head office here.

During the meeting matters, relating to connectivity of roads with industrial ,trade cities and agricultural boost through availability of farm to market roads and cooperation of the WorldBankwere discussed in detail. Hamid Ali Khan told the visiting guests, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has desired to build coordinated North-South, East-West road network in the country. Hamid Ali Khan recalled that NHA was completing 18 projects with assistance of the WorldBankand working relationship between NHA and WorldBankextends over years.

He said, NHA was facing funding issues with regard to realization of highway schemes and to discuss this effect, cooperation of WorldBankwill pave the way to achieve the targets. He asked the WorldBankMission to provide all possible cooperation to the WorldBankfor development of road sector in Pakistan. The WorldBankteam emphasized upon the need of linking major industrial cities and agricultural centers with national highway network, which will ultimately give boost to economy of Pakistan. Matter relating to highway safety and axle load control were also brought underdiscussion.
