Hezbollah leader, Kuwaiti emir congratulate Rohani over presidential win

Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary-general of the Lebanese resistance movement of Hezbollah, and Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah have congratulated Hassan Rohani over his victory in Irans 11th presidential election.
In a message, the Hezbollah leader congratulated Rohani for winning the trust of the Iranian nation in a political epic, and noted that his election revived hope in the hearts of the oppressed people across the world and Irans supporters in the Arab and Muslim countries.

Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti emir wished Rohani success as Irans next president and expressed optimism that bilateral ties between his country and Iran would flourish under his tenure.

Also in separate letters, Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah and Prime Minister Jaber al-Mubarak al-Hamad al-Sabah congratulated Rohani over his victory.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, other Iranian officials as well as authorities from several other countries have also extended their congratulations to Rohani over his victory.

Nearly 50.5 million Iranians, including more than 1.6 million first-time voters, were eligible to participate in the June 14 presidential, and city and village council elections. The Interior Ministry put the voter turnout at 72.7 percent.

Rohani won 18,613,329 votes, or 50.7 percent of a total of 36,704,156 ballots counted, Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar announced on Saturday.

Rohani currently represents Ayatollah Khamenei in the Supreme National Security Council, and is a member of the Expediency Council and the Assembly of Experts. He is also director of the Expediency Council's Center for Strategic Research.
