Iran presidential candidate Hassan Rohani has urged the promotion of real and proper political competition, saying all groups and factions should put aside their differences.
In a speech in Tehran on Sunday, Rohani said every Iranian is obliged to participate in the election.
All of us should participate in the election to determine our fate. Obviously being indifferent toward this issue and encouraging people not to vote are goals that enemies of the [Islamic] establishment have pursued and will always pursue, he stated.
He called on all political factions to hold talks and join forces for the countrys development.

The presidential candidate added that at this sensitive juncture, harsh criticism will only escalate the situation and cause disappointment among Iranians.

Rohani, who is president of the Expediency Council's Center for Strategic Research, said presidential candidates should raise hope among people without using empty slogans.

Irans former chief nuclear negotiator vowed to form a coalition administration in case of achieving victory in the June 14 presidential race, saying his administration of foresight and hope would include all groups in the management of the country.

Rohani is facing seven rivals in the upcoming election. Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, Former Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Velayati, lawmaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili, Secretary of Expediency Council Mohsen Rezaei, former First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref, and former Telecommunications Minister Mohammad Gharazi are also running for president.
