KABUL/TEHRAN: An Afghan official has announced that Tehran-Kabul trade transactions will further boost in near future.
Afghanistan Commerce Ministry spokesman Wahidullah Ghazi Khail said Kabul is interested in fostering all-out ties with Tehran.

The official told IRNA that Iran-Afghanistan trade transactions currently worth two billion dollars, underlining the need for removing the existing obstacles in the way of promotion of bilateral trade exchanges.

Kabul has been determined to implement its agreements inked by the two sides, he said, adding that his country is a good trade partner for all countries, including the Islamic Republic.

He also urged the Iranian investors to make investment in various economic projects in his country. Ghazi Khail reiterated that the ground is prepared for Iranian investors and businessmen to make investment in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Afghan Ambassador to Iran Nasir Ahmadnour stressed Kabul's enthusiasm for increasing cultural exchanges between the two countries, given their abundant commonalities.

"In fact, the two countries share abundant commonalities and they are actually similar and this fact is seen in the present situation and the past history of both countries," Ahmadnour told FNA.

He referred to the two countries' civilization and historical commonalities, and said continued cultural exchanges between Iran and Afghanistan is a natural and necessary thing.

The same remarks were also earlier this month uttered by Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who called for the expansions of cultural ties and cooperation between the Iranian and Afghan nations.

The Iranian president made the remarks during a meeting with Afghan Minister of Culture Sayed Makhdoom Raheen in Tehran.

The president voiced the Islamic Republic's readiness to continue its cooperation with Afghanistan particularly in the cultural sector.

The Afghan minister, for his part, stated that the two countries should use their cultural and historical similarities to expand their ties.

Iran is one of the most important donors to Afghanistan which has kept its promises to help to the reconstruction of the war-hit country.Iran has built some roads, power transmission lines, and border stations, among the other infrastructure projects which would better link the two nations.

Iran has also contributed more than $50 million annually to Afghan anti-narcotics efforts in the last 8 years.
