aluminum ingotsThe Islamic Republic of Iran has produced 253,300 tons of aluminum ingots in the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year, which started on March 20, 2012.
The volume of aluminum ingot production in the country over the previous Iranian calendar month of Azar (November 21-December 20, 2012) stood at 29,200 tons, which showed a 5.5% growth compared to the corresponding period a year earlier, IRNA reported.

The report added that Iran produced 165,800 tons of alumina powder in the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year.

Last May, Iranian Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Vajihollah Jafari said Irans aluminum output would exceed 400,000 tons by the end of the current Iranian calendar year, and would hit 1.5 million tons by the end of the countrys 20-year Development Vision Plan, which ends before 2025.

He added that the Iranian Mining and Mineral Industries Development and Renovation Organization would implement various projects across Iran to achieve the aluminum output target set for this year.

The official highlighted that Irans ranking in production of aluminum has risen by four steps since 2005 to stand at number 22 in the world aluminum output.

Jafari stressed that Iran plans to book the 14th rank in the global aluminum production by the end of the 5th Economic Development Plan (2010-2015).
