Spain arrests 2 over suspected Iran nuclear export

sanctions against IranMADRID (AP) -- Spanish police have arrested two people and seized equipment they say was due to be shipped to Iran for use in Tehran's nuclear program.
Officers stopped a trailer truck at a road toll in the northern town of Durango and after an inspection arrested two people and seized the cargo.

The Interior Ministry said Friday that among objects seized were 44 valves made of an alloy "particularly suitable for use in the nuclear industry" as well as mounting accessories, export documents to Iran, bank statements, support accessories and computer information.

The EU and the United States have imposed sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program and have gone after people dealing in so-called dual-use technology, which can have both civilian and military applications. Iran denies any interest in nuclear arms.
