The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry did receive a protest note from the Iranian side, spokesman Elman Abdullayev has said.
As previously reported, Iran filed an official protest to Azerbaijan regarding the meeting of the World Azerbaijanis Congress (WAC) in Baku.

The protest note was handed over the night before by the Iranian diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan.

In its official note Tehran expresses indignation at holding the meeting of WAC in Baku and statements of one of the leaders of the Congress, Azerbaijani MP Sabir Rustamkhanli about the support for the establishment of "South Azerbaijan" in the Iranian territory.
