Sheep are not exported from Armenia to Iran for a long time now, Hraparak daily reports.
The reason is Irans national currency which depreciated fourfold. Converting it into [US] dollar is not profitable for Iranian businessmen, who were purchasing sheep here [in Armenia] with dollars.
As a result, Armenias consumer came out the winner. Instead of the former AMD 3,500 [approx. $8.56], now, the price for one kilogram of sheep meat is AMD 2,000 [approx. $4.89] at the [countrys] markets.
[But] Some quantity of fresh sheep meat is exported to the United Arab Emirates by planes, [but] not in particularly large volumes, Hraparak writes.
