Iran ready to halt 20% uranium enrichment, West must reciprocate – Lavrov
Iran has confirmed it is prepared to halt its enrichment of 20-percent uranium, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, urging Western nations to end their sanctions against Tehran. The interview with Russian FM Lavrov was published on Tuesday on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s website: “For the first time in many years, there are encouraging signs in the process of settlement of the situation with the Iranian nuclear program,” he said.

 
Iran clinches berth in 2014 soccer World Cup


National Iranian soccer team has secured its place at the FIFA 2014 World Cup in Brazil, after recording a 1-0 victory against South Korea. Iranian striker Reza Qouchan-Nejad found the hosts’ net 60 minutes into the match, and opened the scoring for the Persians.

 


Russia invites Iran to nuclear power forum
Russia has invited the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Fereydoun Abbasi, to attend the International Industry Forum ATOMEXPO 2013.  Abbasi will lead an Iranian delegation to participate in the meeting, which will be held June 26-28 in Saint Petersburg of Russia.


Iran produces petrochemical units feedstock from toxic waste
Iranian oil experts have managed to produce feedstock for petrochemical units from toxic waste, mastering the know-how for building plasma torch to produce synthesis gas from waste. Gasification of waste by plasma method is the newest and most advanced technology to generate energy from waste. The method generates the highest percentage of energy from waste and creates the least environmental contamination.


BP ranks Iran first in world gas reserves
British oil giant BP has reduced its estimates of global gas reserves for the first time in decades, and has moved Iran to the head of the list of states with the largest reserves of natural gas. In the latest review of world energy supplies published by the company, it ranked Iran as first in the world in terms of natural gas reserves, with 33.6 trillion cubic meters, replacing Russia as the country with the largest reserves.

 
Iran dismisses remarks by Canada’s foreign minister about Iran election
Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Araqchi has dismissed the recent remarks by Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird on the June 14 presidential election in the Islamic Republic.


The outgoing president Ahmadinejad meets with the president-elect Rouhani
Iran’s outgoing President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad held a meeting with President-elect Hassan Rouhani in Tehran on Tuesday. During the meeting, President Ahmadinejad felicitated his successor on his election as Iran’s new president, and prayed for his success in the management of the country.
