Saudi Arabia backing terrorists in Pakistan: MP

May6, The Iran Project An Iranian lawmaker says Saudi security forces, present in Pakistan and Irans borders, support terrorists operations.

Speaking to a reporter on Saturday, Iranian parliamentarianMohammad-JavadJamaliNobandeganireferred to the recent anti-Iran remarks of Saudi Arabias defense minister, and said Saudi forces, with their financial supports, encourage Takfiri and terrorist groups in Pakistan to carry out terrorist operations against Iran.

Last Tuesday, Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman al-Saud, the kingdoms defense minister, ruled out ties with Iran after Tehran announced the possibility of de-escalation of tensions if Riyadh halted its war against Yemen.

Salman also said that any struggle for influence between Iran and Saudi Arabia has to take place "inside Iran, not in Saudi Arabia.

In response, Iran issued a formal protest letter to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Thursday, urging the global community to take action against Saudi Arabias support for terrorism and extremism.

However, JamaliNobandeganistated that it is not expected that the UN prevents Saudis warmongering policies since Saudi Arabia previously used its money to silence the international community over the dire humanitarian situation in Yemen.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian lawmaker pointed tothe cross-border terrorist attack at Mirjaveh, and said followingIranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif's travel toIslamabad, we are waiting for Pakistani officials to fulfill their promises so that we will never see otherterrorist operations in Iran's borders.

On April 26, 11 Iranian border guards were killed and three others injured in clashes near the town of Mirjaveh in the southeastern Iranian province of Sistan-and-Baluchestan. The Pakistan-based Jaish ul-Adl terror group claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement.
