Iranian-Russian trade may reach $10 Bln in three years

Sputnik News- The volume of bilateral trade between Iran and Russia may reach $10 billion in three years, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanaei said Tuesday.

In 2016, the mutual trade turnover increased by80 percent and amounted toover $2 billion, according tothe head ofthe second Asian department ofRussias Foreign Ministry. The two states are actively cooperating inenergy, defense and agriculture spheres, amongothers.

"The growth ofIran's trade relations withRussia was the biggest last year incomparison withany other country It seems tome that this trend will continue, and we will reach a considerable trade of $10 billion inthe coming two or three years," Sanaei said atthe roundtable organized byRossiya Segodnya International Information Agency.

On Monday, Iranian Communications and Information Technology Minister Mahmoud Vaezi said that the road map towardthe development ofcooperation betweenIran and Russia inthe medium and long-term perspective may be signed duringthe upcoming visit ofIranian President Hassan Rouhani toRussia inlate March.

According toVaezi, Iran and Russia are seeking todevelop relations inall spheres, including political, economic, cultural and diplomatic cooperation betweenthe countries' regions.
