Senior advisor renews Iran's support for security in Afghanistan

FNA- Senior Advisor to the Iranian Parliament Speaker Hossein Amir Abdollahian renewed Tehran's support for establishment of peace and security in Afghanistan.

"We support security in Afghanistan," Amir Abdollahian said in a meeting with Head of Afghanistan delegation in the Sixth International Conference in support of Palestinian Intifada Haq Pal Mohammad Ajan in Tehran on Tuesday.

He reiterated that that Iran and Afghanistan have plenty of commonalties, and said, "Strengthening relations and cooperation between the two countries would be beneficial for both nations."

Amir Abdollahian said that world people would not forget resistance of Afghan people in confrontation with occupation and terrorism.

The Afghan official, for his part, expressed pleasure for participating in the conference, and said that Iran has special position in the region for Afghanistan and that Afghanistan wants Irans cooperation for settling crisis in the region.

He also expressed hope that bilateral relations will increase in different fields.

Explaining political and parliamentary cooperation dimensions between the two countries, Mohammad Ajan underlined the necessity for unity in Islamic world and fight against terrorism.

In relevant remarks in early December, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif renewed his country's support for the National Unity Government of Afghanistan and its efforts aimed at restoring peace to that country.

"We welcome the recent achievement of the government in making peace with Hezb-e-Eslami, and hope that an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process, benefiting from all capacities within the countries of the region, would move towards establishing lasting and comprehensive peace, Zarif said, addressing the sixth ministerial conference of the Heart of Asia in Amritsar, India.
