IRNA - Chairman of the Strategic Research Center at the Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati said that the recent Iran, Russia and Turkey talks will lead to peace and coexistence in the region.

Talking to reporters after a meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sefat Suftic, Velayati said that the trilateral meeting among Iranian, Russian and Turkish foreign and defense ministers happened for the first time.

Foreign ministers of Iran, Russia and Turkey began a trilateral meeting in Moscow on December 20 with a focus on the humanitarian crisis in Syria, particularly the dispatching emergency relief supplies to Aleppo.

Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier-General Hossein Dehqan is also in Moscow to develop cooperation on defense and security with the Russian Federation.

Velayati expressed hope that the meeting will maintain territorial integrity and stabilize the sovereignty of Syrian legitimate government.

He also wished Syrian people would get rid of this destructive war as well as the foreign-backed terrorists.

Noting that Iran and Russia had identical policies in past with Turkey standing on the opposite side, he said that today the three countries have managed to develop closer views through successive meetings resulting in their adopting the good policy of freeing Syrian government and people from aliens.

Responding a question on Russian ambassador's assassination in Turkey, he said everbody would categorically condemn such an act, adding that these savage measures aim just to kill peace in the region.

The Bosnian parliament official arrived in Tehran on Sunday afternoon at the invitation of the Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani at the head of a delegation.

The Bosnian parliamentary delegation is on a 3-day visit to Tehran and Isfahan.

Russian ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov, 62, was gunned down by a Turkish police officer while the former was making a speech at the opening ceremony of an art gallery in the Turkish capital. The attacker was later shot dead by the police, media reports said.
