Moscow: Zarif, Lavrov to follow up previously-inked agreements

Moscow, Oct 28, IRNA Mohammad Javad Zarif and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, are to pursue implementation of previously-signed agreement between the Iranian and Russian Presidents during their meeting in Baku, Russian foreign ministry says.


Zarif and Lavrov are going to look into ways of broadening bilateral ties and facilitating implementation of agreements reached between Tehran and Moscow during the meeting of Hassan Rouhani and Vladimir Putin in the Azerbaijan Republic's capital, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on Friday.

Iranian foreign minister is to attend a trilateral meeting with his Russian and Syrian counterparts in Moscow on adopting an anti-terror strategy to address regional developments in Moscow on Friday.

In the meeting, Zarif and Lavrov are to study prospects of mutual relations as well as the upcoming joint economic cooperation meeting to be held in Tehran, Zakharova said, according to the Russian foreign ministry website.

In the meeting between the heads of states of Iran, Russia and the Republic of Azerbaijan in Baku, President Rouhani and President Putin underlined enhancement of regional, political, security, commercial and economic cooperation between the two nations.

Iran plays significant role in the Middle East as well as North of Africa, the Russian foreign ministry official said.

With regard to Iran's unique role in regional developments, the trilateral meeting between Iranian, Russian and Syrian foreign ministers is of prime importance as far as finding a solution to the regional conflicts such as those in Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Afghanistan is concerned, Zakharova said.
