Zarif, Mogherini meet in Austrian capital

Vienna, May 17, IRNA - Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Feredica Mogherini, the European Union's Foreign Policy Chief discussed latest regional and international developments in a meeting on Monday.


Zarif met with Mogherini at the Coburg Hotel soon after arrival in the Austrian capital.

Iran's top diplomat and the EU official discussed the latest developments on the implementation of the nuclear deal between Iran and the world powers known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action and the crisis in Syria.

Iran's Foreign Minister arrived in the European country Monday evening to attend Vienna talks on Syria.

Zarif is accompanied by a number of the managers and deputies of Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

While in Vienna, the Iranian delegation is to hold separate talks with European and American participants of the meeting on the sideline of the event, to discuss elimination of the obstacles hindering the implementation of the JCPOA.

The Tuesday meeting of the 17-member International Syria Support Group will be co-chaired by the United States and Russia, and include European Union and Arab League countries as well as Turkey, Iran and China.
