Iranian wrestler snatches gold at World Deaf Cships

TEHRAN, May 10 (MNA) Irans audibly-challenged senior Greco-Roman wrestler has won the title of the 4th World Deaf Senior Greco-Roman and Freestyle Wrestling underway in Tehran.


Irans Abuzar Rabizadeh managed to overcome rivals at 80kg weight category in Tehrans Shohadaye Haftom Tir Sports Hall to win the gold medal of the 4th World Deaf Senior Greco-Roman Wrestling tournament.

Accordingly, Greco-Roman representatives of Russia (2 wrestlers), Iran and Turkey managed to come first in 59, 71, 80 and 98-kilogram weight divisions respectively.

Meanwhile, Irans Akbar Saberi stood on the bronze podium jointly with the Kazakh rival in 98kg weight class.

Also in freestyle wrestling event, Hossein Nouri (65kg) and Foroud Hojati (57kg) won silver and bronze medals respectively.

Russian, Indian and Turkish wrestlers won the titles at the first four weight categories of freestyle event while the remaining wrestlers will meet rivals today on Tuesday.

The 4th World Deaf Senior Greco-Roman & Freestyle Wrestling Championships is underway in the Iranian capital of Tehran on May 6 to May 10, 2016.
