Salehi: Removal of sanctions, implementation of JCPOA depends on Iran

Tehran, Nov 19, IRNA - Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi said on Thursday that grounds are now well prepared for full implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) as other side has undersigned documents on redesigning and modernization of Arak Research Reactor.

Speaking to IRNA, he said today we have been informed that the foreign ministers of six countries (engaged in nuclear talks with Iran) as well as EU foreign policy chief have signed relative document on redesigning and modernization of Arak Heavy Water Research Reactor which means the document is now legally valid.

Based on the (JCPOA), the other side was duty bound to give us guarantee to fully cooperate with Iran on redesigning of Arak Heavy Water Reactor which is now accomplished, Salehi said.

Since the document has been signed by six countries as well as EU representative it should be acceptable as a highly profile political, legal and internationally document, he said.

As the other side urged the UNSC to terminate previous resolutions against Iran, the IAEA Board of Governors should issue resolution to declare termination of previous issues leveled against Iran, he said.

It is expected that immediately after the closure of Iran's dossier at IAEA Board of Governors to be able to set a date for final implementation of the (JCOPA) at the earliest, Salehi said.

On recent report released by the IAEA on Iran's peaceful nuclear activities, he said the report was relatively good.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has carried out all its commitments and there was no deviation on its peaceful nuclear program, Salehi said.

Recent comments made by Amano in Brussels and New York indicates that the IAEA is now gradually forwarding on its right track and it is expected that December 15 to be regarded as final day on Iran's nuclear dossier.

Implementation of the (JCPOA) fully depends on pace of Iran's measures as both Europe and the US have issued required orders on termination of economic sanctions against Iran, Salehi said.
