Late actress Rousta commemorated in California

TEHRAN, Nov. 10 (MNA) Veteran Iranian actress and stage director Homa Rousta was commemorated in California, US.

The ceremony, attended by a group of artists, was held on Saturday in Valencia, Southern California. During the ceremony, a clip was screened of her and then noted Iranian actress Gohar Khirandish delivered a few words on the late stage director.

Talking about the late couple Homa Rousta and Hamid Samandarian, she said that since her role in Pouran Derakhshandehs The Little Bird of Happiness, all her roles were considered by juries and critics.

Homa Roustas main concerns were translation, stage directing and as she used to say returning back to her home, theatre.

The ceremony was attended by Iranian director Pouran Derakhshandeh, actress Fakhri Khorvash, actor Parsa Piroozfar, Shapour Sheibani, Mojhgan Shajarian as well as Soheila Mirfakhray.

Rousta was the widow of the prominent Iranian stage director and playwright Hamid Samandarian, who died of liver cancer at the age of 81 in summer 2012.

Born in 1946 in Tehran, she studied dramatic arts in Bucharest and returned home in 1970. Rousta was nominated for best actress award for her role in From Karkheh to Rhine at the 11th Fajr festival.
