Iran ranks 3 in FIVB Boys' U19 World Championship

TEHRAN, Aug. 24 (MNA) Irans youth volleyball team defeated its Russian rival in a tough match to stand at the third place in FIVB Boys' U19 World Championship.

Irans team could beat Russia with the result of 3-1 to win the bronze medal in the competitions. Iran defeated Russia in the first set (25-17) but lost the second set (28-26); a defeat which was well compensated in the following 2 sets (25-16, 25-23).

Rasool Aghchehli, the captain of Irans national volleyball team, accomplished the astonishing task of nailing 40 points and received the title of the top scorer.

The final match in these competitions was held between the host team Argentina and Poland, who both looked in their best shapes, and in the end Poland crowned FIVB Boys U19 World Championship.

Poland needed a great deal of work to rule out Argentina 3-2 (22-25, 25-23, 28-30, 25-18, 15-7) and for the first time became the champion in this tournament.
