Iran wants nuclear deal announcement to be made in Lavrov's presence

Tehran wants the announcement of a final agreement with the P5+1 group of international mediators to be made in the presence of all foreign ministers, including Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, a senior Iranian diplomat told Sputnik.



VIENNA (Sputnik)The West has been suspecting Iran ofdeveloping nuclear weapons underthe guise ofa civilian program, while Tehran has repeatedly insisted that it is just trying tomeet the countrys growing energy needs.
"For us it will be appropriate if Mr. Lavrov will be here fora deal. And I think forhim it is important tobe here when the deal is done, if it is done."






The P5+1 group ofnegotiators, comprising Russia, the United States, China, France, the United Kingdom and Germany, are trying tosecure a comprehensive deal withIran ensuring the peaceful nature ofTehran's nuclear activities inexchange forthe lifting ofWestern sanctions againstIran.

Negotiations betweenIran and the P5+1 group have recently been prolonged beyondthe original deadline forreaching a final agreement, which was set forJune 30.

In April, Tehran and the P5+1 reached a preliminary deal inthe Swiss city ofLausanne. The Lausanne framework agreement stipulates that Iran cut back its uranium enrichment activities and decrease the number ofcentrifuges inexchange forsanctions relief.

The Lausanne deal was presented withoutthe presence ofthe Russian foreign minister.
