VIENNA (Sputnik) The talks onIran nuclear program, taking place inVienna, are progressing very slowly, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier told reporters onThursday.

Earlier inthe day, UK Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said uponhis arrival toVienna there was no breakthrough yet inthe Iran nuclear talks.

"The negotiations are so difficult. They are not only very extended intime, butalso very difficult. All i can assure you is that my impression is that all ofus here inVienna are seriously prepared tocome toa result," Steinmeier said

He added that there are obstacles the sides were trying toremove and the last steps towardan agreement will be the most difficult.

Despite the difficulties, the minister expressed certitude that the discrepancies betweenthe sides would be overcome.

"I am optimistic that we will have a meeting withministers," Steinmeier pointed out.

In April, asIran and the P5+1 group, comprising Russia, China, France, the United Kingdom, the United States and Germany, signed a political framework deal, Tehran agreed tocut back uranium enrichment and decrease its number ofcentrifuges inexchange forsanctions relief.

At the center ofthis last roundof talks inVienna betweenthe six world powers and Iran are the timing ofsanctions relief and the mechanisms toensure Tehran's compliance withthe agreement.

The date forthe ministerial meeting ofall the negotiating process's participants tosign the final agreement has not been set yet.
