Hossein Mousavian, a former Iranian diplomat, has said in an interview with Chinas CCTV that the question of Yemen is a historical Arab issue which has nothing to do with Iran.
He further said: The Houthis ruled in Yemen for 1,000 years. About 50 years ago, Egypts invasion of Yemen caused a regime change in the Arab country. From the 1960s onward, the Houthis have struggled to return to power.
These have all happened prior to Irans revolution and have nothing to do with Iran, but the Saudi aggression on Yemen saw the Houthis unite with Iran. Iran is concerned about the possible alternative to the Houthis al Qaeda in Yemen. By undermining the Houthis, the US and Saudi Arabia are in fact helping al Qaeda dominate Yemen.
