Nematzadeh departs for Italy

Tehran, April 30, IRNA Iranian Minister of Industries, Mines and Trade Mohammad-Reza Nematzadeh leaves for Italy today to take part in the opening ceremony of Expo Milano 2015.

Representatives from 140 countries and 40 international organizations are taking part in the event which will continue until October 31, shata.ir reported.

The six-month exposition is themed 'Feeding the planet, energy for life'.

Expo officials have decided on August 23 as 'Iran's National Day' due to its concurrence with 'Doctors' Day', celebrated in the country to mark the birth anniversary of Avicenna's, the Persian polymath.

A 50-member team has designed the beautiful Iranian pavilion at the exhibition. It takes its form after the Iranian tablecloth which, in Iranian tradition and culture, symbolizes divine feast and profusion of God's bounties.

The pavilion's interior has been decorated with beautiful symbolic designs taken from Iranian handicrafts and tablecloth's colorful embroidery.

This is the first time in the fair's history that Iran has constructed and designed its pavilion.

This will be the second time Milan is hosting the exposition the first being the Milan International of 1906. On November 23, 2010, Milan was officially named as the host by the International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE). Its General Assembly in Paris decided in favor of Milan's candidature on March 31, 2008.

The expo's theme embraces technology, innovation, culture, traditions and creativity and how they relate to food and diet. Expo 2015 will further develop themes introduced in its earlier editions such as water at (Zaragoza, 2008) in the light of new global scenarios and emerging issues, with a principal focus on the right to healthy, secure and sufficient food for all the world's inhabitants.
