Women maintain balanced role in Iran society, family
Tehran, Nov 29, IRNA Director General of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization for Women and Family Affairs Sedighe Hejazi said on Saturday that one of the major achievements of the Islamic Revolution has been to give a balanced role to women in society and family.
Hejazi made the remarks in a meeting with Vice-Chancellor of Women's University in Africa, Professor Hope Sadza.
She said that women's growth makes up for a country's development.

Hejazi said women play an influential role in both family and society in Iran and they account for 60 percent of the university staff and students.

She said half the ever growing universities and faculties in Iran have given admissions to women encouraging their more presence in the cultural and educational domains.

Woman is a key element in family and the society, said the Iranian official, adding that to this extent, any importance attached to women will encourage development of a society.

The Iranian official referred to presence of Iranian women in the scientific and specialized fields and said while having a major share in the literacy rate in society, women have active presence in the fields of health, politics, entrepreneurship, trade, sports and arts.

Hejazi highlighted significance of engagement between the Iranian and African women in the political, social and cultural domains, and said that ICRO plans to launch joint project with Tunisia, Senegal and Algeria by next three weeks and the field is completely open for women to have scientific, research and even political activity.

The Zimbabwean scientific figure for her part said growing presence of women in various social fields is clear.

Sadza said women have had favorable progress internationally and hoped that such a trend will continue and would be able to push culture of the society towards development.
