US NGOs urge congress not to sabotage Iran nuclear talks

Tehran, Oct 25, IRNA Scores of American Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) have urged the Congress not to sabotage the nuclear talks with Iran.
According to the website of the Nation weekly, 37 NGOs have sent a letter to the US Congress "representing millions of Americans" who support using diplomatic ways to work out a nuclear agreement with Iran.
"We write to express deep concern with inaccurate and counterproductive rhetoric from a handful of Members of Congress regarding possible outcomes of the current negotiations," said the letter.

It also criticized certain US congressmen for announcing that they will oppose to any possible comprehensive agreement made between the six major powers (US, Britain, Russia, France and China plus Germany) and Iran calling their act "particularly irresponsible."

"We are disappointed to hear some Members of Congress also threaten to oppose any agreement that does not completely eliminate or dismantle Irans uranium enrichment infrastructure," added the American NGOs calling it a "troubling" move on the way of reaching a "workable agreement"with Iran.

The 'Americans for Peace Now,' 'Arms Control Association,' 'Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation,' 'Center for International Policy,' 'Council for a Livable World,' 'Evangelicals for Middle East Understanding and 'Historians Against the War' were among the NGOs that have signed the letter.
