Iran condemns massacre, abduction, enslaving of women by terrorists
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran on Wednesday strongly deplored the killing, kidnapping and enslaving of women by worldwide terrorist groups.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran condemns, in its strongest form, the violence and barbarism shown by extremist terrorist groups in targeting women and girls and their massacre, abduction, enslaving and forced marriage to the terrorists," a member of Iran's Permanent Mission to the UN said in New York on Tuesday, addressing the third committee of the UN General Assembly.

"The spread of violent extremism is a threat to the life and human rights of women and girls," he added.

The Iranian envoy stressed the Islamic Republic of Iran considers improvement of cultural, social, economic and political situation of the women and girls as a key component in any policy-making, legislation and national plans.

He also said the presence of women and girls from the western states among extremist terrorist groups is a warning to those who show a double-standard attitude towards campaign against terrorism.

In relevant remarks earlier this month, representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the UN Hossein Qaribi urged certain world states and international bodies to avoid adopting dual-track approaches to terrorism in different countries.

In an address to the UN General Assembly's 6th committee, Qaribi called on the global community to take a unified stance towards fighting terrorism.

"State terrorism continues to endanger peace, security and basic human rights of people state terrorism apparently targets civilian population and deliberately attacks women and children sheltered in recognized protected places to break their determination in order to advance its repressive policies, he said.

Qaribi stressed Irans call for a unified and comprehensive approach in countering terrorism as opposed to a selective one.

We still face a big challenge in countering terrorism; (that is) double standards and selective approaches in dealing with terrorism. Such ill approaches, we warn, would undermine international trust and cooperating in countering terrorism worldwide. We need a united international community in fighting this scourge in an indiscriminate manner, the Iranian envoy added.

Qaribi described Iran as a victim of terrorism, and said the Islamic Republic is still suffering from terrorist attacks in different forms, including state terrorism.
