Tehran, Aug 23, IRNA An earthquake measuring 4.2 degrees on oepn-ended Richter scale jolted Dehloran region in western Ilam province Saturday morning.
According to a report by Seismography Center of Tehran University?s Geophysics Institute, the tremor occurred at 09:27:58 hours local time (05:53:58 hours GMT) and its epicenter was at 32.72 degrees latitude and 47.45 degrees longitude.
There was no immediate report on possible casualties or damage caused by the quake.
Since Sunday Iran?s western provinces of Kermanshah and Ilam have witnessed more than 500 earthquakes.
An earthquake, measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale, hit Ilam province Monday. It occurred at the depth of around 10 kilometers (6 miles) in an area 36 kilometers southeast of Abdanan.
The earthquake damaged roads and water, electricity and telecommunication facilities.
