Deputy FM: US-France difference of opinion in nuclear talks serious

Tehran, Nov 22, IRNA Paris-Washington difference of opinion in nuclear talks with Iran are serious, and are neither a scenario, not aimed at urging Iran either to leave negotiations or to reach a bad deal, said deputy foreign minister in parliamentary affairs Friday.
Iranian Diplomacy periodical has had an interview with Hassan Qashqavi in which reference is made to a three-star bill titled The Need to Respect Irans Nuclear Rights which is prepared by a number of Iranian parliamentarians.

Reference is also made to a deputy US defense secretary of state who after attending a session of the Security Commission of the US Senate, contacted a press reporter and revealed the details of an initial nuclear agreement proposal.

Also, there are speculations about the presence of the US Secretary of State John Kerry in the nuclear talks within the next couple of days, and the Iranian Energy Organizations comments that the Iranian nuclear activities have neither been decreased, nor increased in recent months.

Qashqavi said that he, too, had heard about the Iranian MPs plan in the media, but had no more details about it.

On revealing of details of an initial agreement proposal, too, he said: No precise details have been published yet, and what such media as Al-Monitor, Ha Aretz, DBK, and the others have published were about the previous talks, and have been rejected by both sides.

Yes, the main axes of the talks were clarified, and speculations were made about the details, such as the 20% enrichment and the type of enrichment, but neither Iran, nor the six world powers have spoken or published anything about the details, he said.

The initial text of the agreement is not finalized yet, and sentences are added to, or deleted from it, so how can anyone definitely refer to its details? he asked.

On existence of serious difference of opinion between the US and French officials, he said, Since I am a political official I do not want to opine about the intentions of France, or interactions between Washington and Paris on the matter, but the presented interpretations about the behavior of France make no difference as the six world powers need to present us a single text or agreement proposal.

Qashqavi added, The important point is that they (the western powers) have all realized that they first need to reach an internal agreement among themselves, and the evidence show that their difference of opinion is serious.

On probable presence of John Kerry in the talks, as a spokesperson of the US Secretary of State has said and weather that would mean a resolute will to reach agreement, he said: That is a probability, and I think both sides do want to reach an agreement, as otherwise they would not have negotiated. But let us not make any predictions about the outcome.

On different reports by the IAEA chief and the Iranian Nuclear Energy organization on decreased, or non-decreased amount of nuclear activities in Iran in recent months, too, the deputy Iranian foreign minister said, Let us trust the stands adopted by the Iranian Nuclear Energy Organization.
