Iran urges Iraqi groups to strengthen unity

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran condemned the terrorists blasts in Baghdad and other Iraqi cities, and called on different groups and streams to reinvigorate their unity and solidarity.


Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Abbas Araqchi deplored the Wednesday's terrorist blasts in Baghdad and other cities of Iraq which left many dead and injured.

He said the acts are inhuman crimes and in direction of creating disunity and demolishing national interests of the country, and called for maintaining and strengthening unity and solidarity among people.

Araqchi said that the recent disasters in Iraq is continuation of regional and international plots of enemies and their domestic elements in direction of interests of the enemies of Islam and against Muslims' unity in the current sensitive situation.

Car bomb blasts and other explosions tore through mainly Shiite districts around Baghdad during morning rush hour Wednesday in a day of violence that killed at least 80.

Most of Wednesdays attacks happened within minutes of each other as people headed to work or were out shopping early in the day. Insurgents unleashed explosives-laden cars, suicide bombers and other bombs that targeted parking lots, outdoor markets and restaurants in predominantly Shiite areas in and around Baghdad, officials said. A military convoy was hit South of the capital.
