Former Iranian Intelligence Minister Ali Fallahian registered for Irans upcoming presidential election on May 9, 2013.[/caption]Former Iranian Intelligence Minister Ali Fallahian and former Telecommunication Minister Mohammad Gharazi have signed up for Irans upcoming presidential election,Press TVreports.
The two hopefuls registered at the election headquarters of Irans Interior Ministry in Tehran on Thursday.
Gharazi told reporters that anti-inflationary policies will top his economic plan.
Fallahian, who is currently a member of Irans Assembly of Experts, has promised to create jobs and curb inflation if elected.
My objectives have been the same as the goals of the late founder of the Islamic Republic [Imam Khomeini]. I have come to help strengthen Iran in politics, culture, social [issues], economy and the military, he said.
Registration of hopefuls for Irans 11th presidential election officially began on Tuesday morning. Hopefuls have until May 11 to sign up.
So far, nearly 100 hopefuls have registered for the race.
The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term in a national election, and the Guardian Council vets the candidates for qualifications.
