Iranian Speaker calls for boosting Iran-Pakistan cooperation

The Speaker of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ali Larijani on Monday underscored the need for further enhancing Iran, Pakistan cooperation in all sectors.
He was talking to reporters at a military base in Islamabad soon after his arrival to attend the first Speakers Conference of Parliamentary Association of ECO Countries (PAECO).

He said that there is lot of scope and opportunities to enhance the bilateral cooperation. Larijani said that right now Iran and Pakistan are cooperating in economic, energy and law sectors.

Deputy Speaker National Assembly of Pakistan Faisal Karim Kundi termed the visit of the Speaker of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ali Larijani to Pakistan as highly important. He said that Iran and Pakistan enjoy strong bilateral relations.

Earlier the Iranian speaker was received by Deputy Speaker National Assembly of Pakistan Faisal Karim Kundi at the Nur Khan Airbase.

Ali Reza Haghighian, Irans Ambassador to Pakistan, and other senior officials and Iranian diplomats were also present on the occasion.

The first Conference of Parliamentary Assembly of ECO Countries (PAECO) will be held in Islamabad from February 11 to February 13. Speakers from all the ECO Countries along with their delegations are participating in the conference.

All the major roads in Islamabad are decorated with the flags of ECO member states along with the portraits of the Presidents of the ECO countries. The security of the Pakistani capital has been put on a high alert to avoid any untoward situation.
