New US bans aim to affect Iran presidential election: Lawmaker
Barack ObamaAn Iranian lawmaker says the US has imposed fresh sanctions on Iran to affect the Islamic Republics forthcoming presidential election, stressing that Washington will finally sustain a defeat.
The United States seeks to toughen sanctions in order to be able to gain results in Irans presidential election but they can be sure that these sanctions will make the Iranian nation massively participate in the polls and the Americans will be eventual losers of the election, a member of Iran Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Mohammad Hassan Asafari said on Saturday.

He added that the US has imposed bans against Iran and tightens them every now and then due to its fear of the Islamic Revolution and the Iranian nation.
Thanks to the special position of the Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic in the Middle East and among regional countries, they [Americans] are frightened of Irans Islamic Revolution because the Islamic Republic has endangered their grandeur, the Iranian legislator pointed out.
He noted that Washington seeks to impede the Iranian nations progress through different channels.

The United States has imposed fresh sanctions on Iran that include bans on the countrys media despite Washingtons claims of protecting the freedom of speech.

The new bans are included in the USD633-billion military bill for 2013 which US President Barack Obama signed into law on Wednesday night.

The United States, Israel and some of their allies have repeatedly accused Iran of pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program.

Over the false allegation, Washington and the European Union have imposed illegal unilateral sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

Iran refutes the allegations and argues that as signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, it is entitled to develop and acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
