Pakistanis, Afghans among 11 killed near Iran border
iran borderGWADAR: Eleven people, including Pakistanis and Afghans, were gunned down by unidentified assailants near the Pak-Iran border late Friday night.
Balochistan home secretary was quoted by TV channels as saying that the deceased were illegally travelling to Iran. The dead bodies were shifted to a Gwadar hospital. Confirming the number of causalities, officials of the Balochistan Home Department told The News that the 11 people, majority of them Pakistani and Afghan nationals, were heading to trespass the Pak-Iran border for their further destination to European countries for employment. When their vehicle reached in Putkan area of district Gwadar, some 932 kilometers away from the provincial capital, it was intercepted by unknown armed men.

The armed men opened indiscriminate fire, killing all the 11 people instantly. Later, the armed men fled from the scene leaving behind the deceased in a pool of blood.Levies force reached on the spot after several hours of the incident and removed the bodies to morgue of the district headquarters hospital Gwadar. Further investigations are in progress.

Officials of the Balochistan home department confirmed that 11 people were heading to European countries via Iran and Turkey for employment. The law enforcement agencies had started investigation to trace out the recruitment agent who was sending them to foreign countries illegally.
