Iran Front Page- IFP has taken a look at the front pages of Iranian newspapers on Monday, February 12, and picked headlines from 20 of them. IFP has simply translated the headlines and does not vouch for their accuracy.
The top story in all newspapers today was the Iranian people’s huge turnout in the nationwide February 11 rallies to mark the 39th anniversary of Iran’s 1979 Revolution anniversary. The huge turnout was praised by the Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in a message on Sunday night.
The Syrian air defence’s success in shooting down an Israeli jet fighter also received great coverage. Conservative papers particularly praised the unprecedented move, and said the Israeli regime will no longer feel safe over the Syrian skies.
Several papers also covered the winners of the 36th edition of Fajr Film Festival, which wrapped up in Tehran on Sunday night. “Abu Ghraib Strait”, the film that bagged 6 awards at the closing ceremony, received special attention from conservative papers as it deals with the issue of Sacred Defence (the war imposed by Iraq on Iran in the 1980s).
The above issues, as well as many more, are highlighted in the following headlines and top stories:
