IFP has taken a look at the front pages of newspapers on Thursday and picked headlines from 17 of them. IFP has simply translated the headlines and does not vouch for their accuracy.

The comments of the Supreme Leader at a meeting with Basij commanders dominated the front pages of Iranian newspapers on Thursday. President Rouhani’s appeal to Russia and Turkey to resolve their differences judiciously also appeared on the cover of most dailies.

 



 

Ettela’at: Basij rises from the ranks of the public and represents the whole nation, said the Supreme Leader at a meeting with Basij [a volunteer force affiliated to the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps] commanders from across the nation.

Ayatollah Khamenei also advised [different groups] against making factional use of the concept of [vigilance in the face of] infiltration.

Ettela’at: Iran’s economy is heavily politicized, said President Rouhani’s chief of staff.

Mohammad Nahavandian further said that a mentality that favors monopoly by the quasi-private sector prevails in Iran’s economy.

Ettela’at: The world has called on Russia and Turkey to exercise self-restraint.

In a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart, Foreign Minister Zarif said that the downing of the Russian fighter jet will exacerbate the Syrian crisis and will send the wrong message to the terrorists.

Ettela’at: The West is not serious enough in the fight against terrorism, said President Rouhani in meetings with the Luxembourg and Kazakh foreign ministers.

Terrorism serves no country’s interests and cannot be contained to a certain region; it is like a dangerous disease on the move, President Rouhani said.

Ettela’at: The Iran-P5+1 joint commission will be set up on December 7, said an Iranian deputy foreign minister.

Abbas Araghchi further said all deals on exchanges of uranium and procurement of Yellow Cake from Russia have been signed. The two sides are waiting for the closing of the possible military dimension (PMD) case [to implement them].

Ettela’at: A strike by French jet fighters on Mosul left 28 Iraqi students killed.

In another development, officials said that they have installed 800 security cameras in and around Karbala to ensure the security of hundreds of thousands of pilgrims expected in the Iraqi holy city for Arba’een ceremonies.
