Iran, Spain ink agreement on tourism industry

Iranian and Spanish officials have signed a memorandum of understanding on tourist cooperation during a meeting in Spain’s capital, Madrid.
The agreement was signed between the Head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Organization (CHTHO) Masoud Soltanifar and Spanish Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism José Manuel Soria López.

According to the agreement, “Spain will share its experience in hotel construction and converting historical buildings into guesthouses, and will also encourage Spanish shareholders to invest in Iran’s hotel industry.”

Soltanifar and CHTHO Tourism Deputy Morteza Rahmani traveled to Spain last week to attend the 98th session of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) held  from June 4 through 6 in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

International Tourism in 2013 and 2014, the priorities and objectives for International Tourism in 2014 and 2015 along with several other subjects were discussed at the session.

UNWTO plays an important role in sustainable growth of the tourism industry and helps in the field of information exchange.

“Iran has rich cultural and historical heritage and was successful in increasing domestic tourists, the secretary general of UNWTO Taleb Rifai had earlier said.

Iranian’s society is one of the most vibrant and diverse societies in the Middle East that is interesting for the lovers of history and ethnic variety.
