Sasan Soleymani, who produced the video of Iranian youth in Tehran dancing to the Pharrell Williams song Happy, remains in custody in Rejai Shahr Prison, even though all six people who appeared in the video have been released on bail.
The International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran reports that the Soleymani family tried to put up bail on Saturday May 24 but it was rejected by the judiciary personnel.
The report also notes that Soleymani is being deprived of sleep. His family has been told to return in a week.
The group was arrested by Tehran morality police for producing the video that shows Iranian youth dancing in and around an apartment building to Williams’ Happy.
Sasan Soleymani is a 33-year-old filmmaker and animator. He is credited with suggesting the colour purple for Hassan Rohani’s 2013 election campaign during preparations for campaign photos.
