Minister: Israel using extremism for blocking muslim nations' progress

25 May 2014 - 22:44

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati said the phenomenon of Takfir (extremism) today serves as a tool in the hands of the Israeli regime for preventing Muslims from making progress.

“Today, the Muslim world is facing plots and the phenomenon of extremism is mostly used by the Zionists in line with their fight with the Muslim world,” Janatti said during the 7th General Assembly of Islamic Radios and Televisions Union in Tehran on Sunday.

“Today, we are proud that the Islamic awakening (movement) has reached maturity, and the capacity of the Islamic community’s media has developed," he said.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian minister attached great importance to media outlets and said that the media has become a part of life and an undeniable need.

Earlier today, the general assembly of the union with 220 members from 36 countries started work under the motto of ‘Awakening Media Outlets, Voice of Resistance and Confrontation with Religious Sedition.’

The gathering was opened with a speech by President Rouhani. Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh also addressed the assembly live from Gaza City via video conference.
