20 May 2014 - 22:34

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Health Minister Seyed Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi and his Russian counterpart Veronika Skvortsova held a meeting to discuss various issues of mutual interest, including the export of Iranian-made medicines and medical equipment to Russia.

During the meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the 67th World Health Assembly in Geneva, the two sides also exchanged views on expanding cooperation in the production of a medicine used for treating multiple sclerosis (MS).

Qazizadeh Hashemi described the meeting as “fruitful and promising” and said given the two countries’ advances in pharmaceutical and scientific fields, Iran and Russia can help each other with conducting medical research.

The Sixty-seventh session of the World Health Assembly (WHA) opened in Geneva on May 19 and will be underway until May 24. The WHA is the supreme decision-making body of World Health Organization (WHO).

More than 3000 delegates attend the Sixty-seventh World Health Assembly. Over the coming days, high-level representatives from WHO’s 194 Member States will discuss and make decisions on key global health issues.
