Alim Qas?mov’s lyrics echoes in Milad Tower

TEHRAN, May 14 (MNA) – Tehran’s Milad Tower’s International Hall has hosted a concert by famous Azerbaijani musician and singer.
Alim Qas?mov rejoiced the audience in the concert the majority of whom were Turkish-speaking people of Tehran. The concert was to celebrate the birth anniversary of Imam Ali (as).

Qas?mov, who had been to Iran many times in different musical tours, and who, in 1999, had been awarded the International Music Council-UNESCO Music Prize, performed variety of vocal and instrumental pieces including pieces in chahargah, homayoun, shoushtari, Azeri segah, and a variety of vocal and instrumental and Azerbaijan’s other mughams of fame, which were highly hailed by the audience in the hall.

Most of his songs were composed by Azerbaijanj’s famous bards and belonged to love lyrics known to Iranian Turkish speaking public as folklore music. Sari Gelin (Azerbaijani Turkish for ‘the bride in yellow’) was one such famous folkloric music performed at the demand of the audience.

Khosrow Sartipi, Qas?mov’s representative in Iran pointed to Turkish-speaking poets who composed in Persian or Arabic, but also revered Turkish, and who are world-renowned.

He also praised the Minister of Culture’s Art deputy and the Office for Music. “I am very pleased to see that the art authorities of this land prepared the grounds for tonight for us to see a genius of Azerbaijan music; an artist to be honored of living in his times,” he added.

“Qas?mov and his group of performers tonight buoyed us to the sublime highs of God, and was a blessing for us to see a singer the world prestigious singers are proud of,” told Sartipi to the audience, which were heavily applauding the Azerbaijani singer.
