Iran, Ghana agree to follow-up expansion of ties

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran and Ghana voiced pleasure in the constructive and positive outcomes of the Ghanaian delegation's current to Tehran, and called on the relevant officials to pursue the proper and in time implementation of the agreements signed by the two sides.
Speaking at a meeting with Abdul Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, the Ghanaian Minister of State at the Presidency, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that expansion and deepening of relations with the African countries, including Ghana, is a top priority in Iranian foreign policy.

He further underlined the good political relations between Tehran and Accra both in bilateral and in international scenes.

Zarif also expressed hope that relaying on the continuous visits of the two countries? high ranking officials the relations in all fields of mutual interest will expand and deepen to extents that would be greater than ever before.

"The high ranking Ghanaian officials are determined to expand and to deepen comprehensive relations with Iran and there is a strong political will to do so in Accra," the Ghanaian official said for his part.

Pelpuo underscored that his talks with the Iranian agriculture minister who is the Iranian head of the Joint Commission were quite satisfactory and fruitful.

The high ranking Ghanaian official meanwhile announced his country's interest in using the experience and the good and advanced technical and engineering capacities that Iran can offer to Ghana in scientific, academic, industrial, agricultural and health fields.

The fifth Iran–Ghana Joint Commission kicked off here on Tuesday a day after commission's experts discussed the offered plans of both sides to pave better grounds for expansion of Tehran-Accra ties.

Tehran has prioritized promotion of its economic and political ties with the African states and the country is now considered as one of the African Union (AU)'s strategic partners.

Tehran's efforts to boost ties and cooperation with Africa have led to its acceptance as an observing member of the AU, where it has shown an active presence in the AU summit meetings.
