US Col. discloses staggering details of chemical attack upon Iranians

30 Apr 2014 - 15:23

TEHRAN, April 30 (MNA) – A retired US Air Force officer, Rick Francona, has said CIA files prove US helped Saddam in his chemical attack on Iran.
Rick Francona retired from United States Air Force intelligence with extensive experience in the Middle East and was under contract to NBC. He appears regularly on NBC, MSNBC and CNBC as well as Radio Canada and other media and as a military analyst in CNN.

In a recent exclusive interview with Iran state TV channel 4, Raz (Persian for ‘secret’) program, he disclosed staggering information about US support of Saddam in launching some of the worst chemical attacks in history upon Iranians during the imposed war on Iran (1980-1988).

It is the 1st time after so long that such files are revealed about the chemical attack upon Iranians which led to a great number of civilian casualties, many of whom are still suffering its consequences as physical pains after 25 years.

He told Nader Talebzadeh, Raz presenter, through Skype that the nature of US support for Iraq and other countries in general was determined not by the necessities of allies’ conditions, but rather it was the US national interests to set the roles of play in terms of foreign policy.

In August 2013, Francona gave an interview with Foreign Policy where he told that “The U.S. knew Saddam was launching some of the worst chemical attacks in history -- and still gave him a hand.”
