30 Apr 2014 - 11:44

Tehran, April 29, IRNA – Deputy Oil Minister for International Affairs Ali Majedi said on Tuesday that Iran is prepared for export of gas to Europe via Turkey or any other routes.
Majedi told Head of French Senate Financial Commission Philip Marini, “Iran is prepared to export gas to Europe and the goal is accessible in case necessary conditions are provided.”
He said Iran enjoys abundant rich gas resources. “As diversification of export destinations is significant for us, absolutely, Europe intends to diversify its gas suppliers.”

“We are willing to put export of gas to Europe via Turkey or other routes on the agenda”

Referring to Iran’s first position in terms of oil and gas resources worldwide, Majedi hoped that with progress in Iran-G5+1 talks, we will move towards optimal use of rsources and Iran can prepare the ground for development of the nation through proper management of the resources.

Majedi said Iran has been away from international markets for a while and we hope that the G5+1 talks would yield positive results and encourage Iran’s re-entry to the markets.

He said that research by well-reputed energy institutes in the world show Europe’s dire need for gas and the share of gas in Europe’s fuel consumption basket will increase to 26 percent from 22 percent. “To this end, Europe’s need for gas will remain intact.”
